5 Who can apply for Financial Assistance from the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund (CABF)? Financial assistance is given only to members or their dependents (widows / relatives) whose family annual income is not more than ₹3,00,000/-. Apply by filing the prescribed Application Form along with the required documents / enclosures. The Application Form can be downloaded from icai.org/post/ca-benevolent-award.
6 Is CABF Life Membership mandatory for applying for Financial Assistance from CABF? No.
7 What types of financial assistance are available under CABF? Three types of financial assistance are given from CABF:
  • Monthly Financial Assistance
  • One-Time Ex-Gratia Financial Assistance
  • Medical Financial Assistance
8 Who can recommend an application for assistance? Applications may be recommended by:
  • Central Council Member
  • Past President of ICAI
  • Regional Council Member
  • Members of the Managing Committee of CABF
  • Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer of the Branch
9 Who is eligible for One-Time Ex-Gratia Financial Assistance from CABF?
  • Applicants whose family income does not exceed ₹3,00,000/- p.a. are eligible to apply.
  • The member was up to 55 years of age at the time of death (for One-Time Ex-Gratia assistance only).
10 Which documents / enclosures are required along with the Application Form for Monthly and One-Time Ex-Gratia Financial Assistance from CABF? Apart from the Application Form (duly filled in all columns, signed, and recommended by the authorised person as mentioned on page 3 of the Application — recommendation can also be taken by email), the following documents / enclosures are required:
  • Last 2 years’ bank statements of all bank accounts
  • 2 years’ ITRs of the beneficiary — if ITRs are not filed, an income certificate issued/certified by a Government Authority, or an affidavit for the income of the beneficiary
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
  • Copy of Aadhaar card of the beneficiary
  • Copy of PAN card of the beneficiary
  • Death certificate of the member
  • Copy of Aadhaar and PAN card of the deceased member
  • Original affidavit for number of bank accounts
  • Original affidavit for legal heir
  • NOC from the other dependents
  • Death entry updated on the Self Service Portal (SSP)
11 Which documents / enclosures are required along with the Application Form for Medical Financial Assistance from CABF? Apart from the Application Form (duly filled in all columns, signed, and recommended by the authorised person as mentioned on page 3 of the Application — recommendation can also be taken by email), the following documents / enclosures are required:
  • Last 2 years’ bank statements of all bank accounts
  • Last 2 years’ ITRs of the beneficiary
  • Copy of cancelled cheque
  • Copy of Aadhaar card of the member
  • Copy of PAN card of the member
  • Original affidavit for number of bank accounts
  • Copy of Aadhaar card of the patient / dependent
  • Copy of PAN card of the patient / dependent
  • Original hospitalisation bills / medical reports / summary of the bills
12 General clarifications
  • For any other or further query, the applicant / member may contact 9350799926 between 9:30 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. on all working days.
  • An advance copy of the Application Form along with all documents / enclosures (scanned copies) may be mailed to cabf@icai.in for doing the needful at the office; however, a hard copy of all documents is required for processing the file for consideration of the Appropriate Authority.

13 What is the maximum Financial Assistance provided?
  • Monthly Financial Assistance is ₹15,000/- p.m.
  • One-Time Ex-Gratia Financial Assistance is ₹1,50,000/-
  • Medical Financial Assistance is up to ₹1,50,000/-
14 Who can apply for Medical Assistance for treatment of CORONA disease from the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund (CABF)? Medical Assistance for the treatment of CORONA disease from the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund has been closed with effect from 31st October 2022.
