CA. Prasanna Kumar D is the 74th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the Council Year 2026–27. A visionary leader with an unwavering commitment to professional excellence, he is widely admired for his dynamic leadership, progressive outlook, and dedication to advancing the Chartered Accountancy profession both in India and globally.
A Fellow Chartered Accountant with over four decades of distinguished professional experience, CA. Prasanna Kumar D has developed extensive expertise in corporate audit, taxation, bank audits, corporate laws, and professional practice. Since commencing his practice in 1985, he has earned widespread recognition for his technical excellence, ethical values, and significant contributions to the accounting profession.
Currently serving his third consecutive term as a Central Council Member of ICAI, CA. Prasanna Kumar D has held several important leadership positions within the Institute. Prior to assuming the office of President, he served as the Vice-President of ICAI for the Council Year 2025–26. Earlier, he served as Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) during 2013–14 and as Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Branch of SIRC during 2001–02, where he spearheaded numerous initiatives for professional development, member services, and student education.
Throughout his distinguished journey with ICAI, CA. Prasanna Kumar D has chaired and served on several Central Committees and Boards of the Institute, contributing significantly to professional education, technical standards, governance, digital transformation, and member capacity building. He has also represented the profession at various national and international forums, promoting the global standing of Indian Chartered Accountants and fostering collaboration with international accounting bodies.
As President of ICAI, CA. Prasanna Kumar D is providing strategic leadership to the Institute with a strong focus on enhancing professional standards, embracing technological innovation, strengthening global engagement, and preparing Chartered Accountants to meet the evolving demands of the economy.
